The old Appalachian Trail between Numeral Rock and Macedonia Brook Road was abandoned but it still makes a wonderful walk/hike.
The old Appalachian Trail route between Numeral Rock was still hike-able as of 2015.
It follows an old stage trail and is bordered by ancient huge trees. Once it was planned to make the section an official hiking trail as a portion on the east end actually got blazed with paint marks on the trees.
One has to find the old Appalachian Trail off Macedonia Brook Road or the old route in Numeral Rock vicinity. It appears to be protected as seems to be within Pond Mountain Natural Area Preserve.
