ALCOHOL BAN IN AIM FOR ALL STATE PARKS

From newspaper clipping recieved Sept.23,1999-source unknown

Sherwood Island State Park's alcohol ban instituted this year is part of the Department of Environmental Protection's plan to make all of Connecticut's State Parks alcohol free.

Pamela Adams,DEP director of state parks, said drunk drivers, loud noise, injuries and some drownings have led to bans in parks of neighboring states.

"People who are bent on partying are coming to Connecticut",Adams said."We don't want to be a host for that".

This year,Sherwood Island and New Fairfield's Squantz Pond have joined 11 state parks with an alcohol ban. There are 92 state parks in Connecticut, and Adams said the DEP would like to expand the ban to the other 79 parks next year.

Adams said the DEP has recieved positive feedback about the ban from beach-goers.

"By and large,we think this has been well recieved;she said."We're starting with verbal warnings. If someone persists,we'll take a heavier course of action."

This DEP lady,a true member and loyal funder of MADD and various AA chapters,NEVER WEN'T CAMPING IN HER LIFE.
Virtually every comment is TOTAL FICTION. I personally believe such officials should not be 100% liers.
Neighboring states have had unenforced alcohol bans for years.NOTHING IS NEW.NOBODY RUNS TO CONNECTICUT TO PARTY.
The tragedy of alcohol problems has not changed for thousands of years....What are these NEW tragedies reported 1999?
These bans are created with NO DEMOCRATIC INPUT !!!! This DEP official was not even elected by anybody !!!!!
We are starting with verbal warnings---------Fines and arrests have persisted as a #1 priority for at least 2 years. All forms of police intelligence are used to catch the criminal.Roadblocks..stripping of cars for searches...invading sleeping campers in wee hours of the night, stripping tents, cars, ice chests or whatever...Use of night vision equipment to observe the privacy of campers...the list goes on and on. If in doubt research the Superior Court records in Litchfield,Litchfield County,Connecticut.
No input from the public is invited or accepted.
These actions are done under a clause of DEP regulations whereas any part of a park can be designated 'alcohol free' upon desire. Only of recent this was extended to campgrounds. Example:Sherwood Island Park has banned alhohol from the BEACH itself for a long long time.No complainers.Nobody SEARCHED OUT ICE CHESTS OR COOLERS.If the need for enforcement arose it could be enforced. It originally stemed from the days of all beer being in bottles.Like cut feet?
There have been no alcohol problems in 1999 era any different than in state parks 50 years ago.Why now? DUE TO PROBLEMS THIS ACTION HAD TO BE TAKEN.

This writer sincerly DISLIKES LIERS AND THOSE THAT PRODUCE NOTHING BUT TOTAL FICTION.DID YOU EVER MEET THOSE THAT WERE LIERS FROM BIRTH? I ASSUME IF PARENTS NEVER ENFORCED THE TRUTH AS TO THEIR CHILDREN...CHILDREN GROW AND MATURE WITH LIES A NATURAL PART OF NORMAL LIFE.

This writer believes in sensible rational 'common-sense' positions. It is no secret alcohol has been a curse to some since the birth of the human beings existance. How many times has prohibition been attempted? I don't think others should force their likes and dislikes upon the population..at least with NO DEMOCRACY involved.I don't believe you deal with PROBLEMS the same way as some deal with the truth.RUN AWAY FROM THEM.Every time there is a problem close or ban something? Its an easy lazy escape.
