The Mattatuck Trail is an OLD Trail which has been part of the Connecticut 'Blue Blazed' Trail System. It seems it is gradually being chipped down to a fraction of it's old route. In my opinion this was the best and most beautiful hiking trails in Connecticut.. Unfortunate, many of the best locations are now lost. It had a junction on Mohawk Mountain with the old Appalachian Trail (now Mohawk Trail) and weaved southbound all the ways to the New Haven, Connecticut area.
