To the west of Campbell Falls State Park were two towns--- Sodom and Gomorrah--One might still catch one on a map as a 'place name' but as such they vanish with time...

As to this State Park few if any features seemed to be there on older maps.

Campbell Falls State Park Reserve was a gift to the State of Connecticut and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from the White Memorial Foundation of Litchfield Connecticut. The Whiting River, rising in Massachusetts falls nearly 100 feet before entering Connecticut. The park was placed under protection of the two states in 1923 and special laws were passed in 1924 to authorize the cooperation in care and maintenance of the park.

Campbell Falls State Park Reserve is an undeveloped, publicly owned recreation area and nature preserve located in the town of Norfolk, Connecticut. The state park offers hiking, stream fishing, and views of the park's namesake waterfall which cascades nearly 100 feet (30 m) on the Whiting River just north of the Connecticut/Massachusetts state line. Legislation passed in 1923 and 1924 provided for the joint management of the park after the land was donated to the two states by the Whiting Memorial Foundation. A stone monument within the park marks the border between the states.
