Housatonic State Forest. It has various sections mixed in the same area as the Wyantenock State Forest and Mohawk State Forest. Some map links below. I forget where they came from but maybe a couple from the DEP. I 'bulk' copyright everything just to make it more work for somebody to simple duplicate YOUR whole website.

The State spent forever putting up NO ALCOHOL signs almost everywhere. I presume in areas a human has not walked/been in a hundred years. These State Forests are sort of kept secret by the State. Am I nuts ?? Try the DEP WEBSITE 2010 ?? I presume they do not have the staff to control ALL DRINKING in these places. Otherwise the philosophy is-----they must know what everybody is doing !!!!

Housatonic State Forest is a Connecticut state forest located in five towns. These include Sharon, Canaan, Cornwall, and North Canaan. The state forest includes two Connecticut natural area preserves: Gold’s Pines and Canaan Mountain. It is the only Connecticut state forest that includes a portion of the Appalachian Trail.
